How often should you go to a class?

Every week is typical, and anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks is common.

Guidelines call for about 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, plus strength work on two days. One class a week is a good base: in a trial of yoga for back pain, once a week did about as well as twice.

People often come sooner with

  • Building a new habit
  • Classes as your main exercise

And later with

  • Other activity you enjoy on your own
  • A busy season, when once a week keeps the habit going

Ask your instructor

This is a typical range, not advice for you. Your instructor will suggest what fits you, and it often changes as you do.
